The fast-spreading coronavirus pandemic has now killed more than 7,100 worldwide infecting over 179,000 people according to Johns Hopkins University. With more fatalities reported outside of China than inside, where the virus is believed to have originated, and illustrating the virus’ rapid spread to more than 155 countries. Italy, Iran, South Korea, and Spain recorded the highest numbers of deaths over the last day. Italy, China, El Salvador, New Zealand, Poland, Ireland, Denmark, France, Spain, and Malaysia have declared nationwide lockdowns in a bid to stem the spread of the virus. President Donald Trump has suspended all travel between the US and Europe.

On Monday (3/16/20), the United States alone reached more than 3,600 confirmed cases across 49 states, though the country has struggled to adequately test the population. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended on Sunday that all gatherings of 50 people and more be postponed until May.
